iDea lab partners with AT&T and The NETwork to deliver professional development courses that participants won’t experience anywhere else

As the workforce evolves, continuing education and professional development are necessary to ensure professionals maintain a competitive edge. AT&T has long recognized the need to provide its employees with the right resources and training to ensure career growth and longevity.

In 2018, AT&T and The NETwork Black Integrated Communications Professional (The NETwork) partnered with the Abilene Christian University (ACU) iDea lab to create programs specifically geared toward their audiences.


Creating training content from the ground up is timely and expensive. AT&T needed to identify a high-quality, low-cost solution to help its membership improve critical job skills in several areas.

iDea lab’s ROLE

iDea lab, the training and development entity of ACU, handled all of The NETwork’s training and curriculum needs. Working side-by-side with Latya Taylor, lead financial analyst in reporting for AT&T and CEO of The NETwork, iDea lab delivered the first courses for the organization’s signature program, “Transformation Thursdays.”

The short monthly sessions cover a range of topics that are available virtually to the organization’s 12,000 members. The NETwork chose topics from a comprehensive menu and then identified the right presenter. iDea lab offers this customized approach to organizations and companies across a range of topics, such as leadership development, problem solving, and industry-specific subjects.


By working with iDea lab, AT&T and The NETwork could streamline the creation and delivery of training curriculum. The iDea lab team created an efficient approach that was both customized and plug-and-play. AT&T found the process efficient and productive, and said the iDea lab staff was adaptable and easy to work with.

The NETwork’s program was a success, with an average of 150 participants per session, across six sessions.

The NETwork leaders said members saw value in the content and appreciated what they learned. Now The NETwork wants to increase its participation with iDea lab to keep the momentum going.
